Carman Jager Switzerland: As a student
in a teacher school I was looking for place to do my
foreign language practicum. Acquaintance form Switzerland gave me the
address form Marilyn and Clay, who gave me the possibility to stay with
them
for three month.
Although I got many family pictures, and was having E-mail contact
before the trip has started, I wasn't sure what would attend me.
Soon as I arrived in Vancouver, I felt that all these worries have been
unfounded. The whole family faced me with such a friendliness and
warmth, that all doubts disappeared at the very first moment.
The time I stayed in Enderby, passed very fast. It was a varied time I
in middle of great nature, which I was spending with this lovely family. Camping, family parties, shopping trips, swimming in the near river and numerous pets on the farm made my English practicum to wonderful
experience. Beside I learned the English language. After this trip I was made the First-Certificate in English.
In this three month I have grown fond of Hanna, Reece, Mack, Marilyn,
Clay and Canada. So much that I went back again in summer 2003 together with
my boyfriend Michael.
Michael Switzerland: My girlfriend Carmen I hade the
opportunity to stay for two
weeks in Canada. So I get a impression of the Canadian way of live.
Marilyn and Clay prepared especially for us a Camper. It was a cozy and
comfortable home.
Because I'm very interested in fishing, I organized a fishing license
for
me. With this license I had the permission to fish in the near river
(Sushwap) or in many other places. The amount of caught fishes became
almost minor beside the magnificent nature.
I was welcome very friendly and warm. The long and interesting
discussions I
had with Marilyn and Clay on the deck of their house with a couple of
beers
haven't been just useful for my English understanding. The three kids
accepted me immediately. As soon they felt playing a game, my girlfriend
and
me very asked very quickly.
Marilyn, Clay and their kids are lovely and interesting people, who I
like
to see again.
